Shad or 6 mukhi ( faced ) Rudraksha.
This Rudraksha bead represents Kartikeya or Murugan as the presiding deity. He is the six headed son of Lord Shiva.This bead creates stability and mental focus to the wearer. The bead can be worn by anyone, ideal for students and businessmen.
This bead is also claimed to be good for soldiers, police, adventurers and those in dangerous situations. Creates calm mind and strength.
Astrologically it represents the planet Venus, so if one has a malefic Venus in their jyotish chart it can affect the comforts in life as well the wife’s state of mind and health. This bead or several combined are considered the remedy.
There are a couple mantras which can be recited to evoke the bead, namely Om Hreem Hum, Om Hum Shadha Vastrasya.
Due to the low cost of this bead, if possible wear the Nepali beads, the Javanese are ideal as a mala of 108 beads.
Shad mukhi is mentioned in various ancient sources such as the Shiva Maha Puran (Vidyesvara Samhita) Chapter 25 part 71 where it mentions;‘A Rudraksha with six faces is Kartikeya. A man who wears it on the right arm is absolved of the sins of Brahmin-slaughter and the like.’In Padma Puran Chapter 59 part 61:‘There is no doubt that he who wears on his right arm a six mouthed Rudraksha i.e. Kartikeya is freed from such sins as brahmanacide etc. One who is brave like Skanda does not get defeated even when the end of the world is imminent; he is the mine of virtues on earth. A Brahmana is honoured by a king; a ksatriya gets victory; the castes like Vaisya and Sudra always are full of (i.e. always have) property; and to such a man only Parvati, the giver of boons, is easily available like his mother. Then by the strength of his own arms only a man becomes an orator. He does not become a coward, nor does he meet with ruin. All these and other good things (are possible) because of wearing a six mouthed (Rudraksha).’ Also mentioned in Nirnayasindhu, Rudrakshajabalopanisad, and Srimaddevibhagavat.
This bead is supposed to cure diseases as eye, problems with throat, thyroid, kidneys, arthritis, sexuality, urinary and dropsy.
